Annabelle

“Who the fuck is that?” I ask, stalking over to the window overlooking the sinbin.

“Huxley,” Killian growls, joining me.

I look up at him in panic. “No, not now…”

He glares down, his eyes hard and cold. They soften almost instantly. He cups my face. “I’ll take care of it. Once and for all.”

“Killian, no, don’t leave, not again, please.” I shake my head.

He bends down to kiss me. “I have to. I have to make our home safe for you and our daughter. I love you and I accept whatever decision you come to about the Gatekeeper.”

“Fuck, don’t do this now. Don’t be all sweet and then leave me,” I mutter.

The residence shakes and the roof of the sinbin that was intact, starts to fracture and break.

“Anna, I have to,” he says again.

I grip his hand tightly. “I love you. Hurry back.” There is no changing his mind, and to be honest, I need this dealt with. Famine cannot be here while Hell is still so unstable. Whatever the fuck happened before will probably seem like child’s play if he stays.

With a low growl, he kisses me again. It’s possessive and fierce and it makes my knees weak. As he pulls away and disappears, I choke back the sob that threatens to come out. I watch him reappear next to Famine and grab him roughly, then they’re gone.

“Fuck,” I breathe out and rest my forehead on the cool glass.

“It’s not enough,” Devlin says quietly. “Death needs to leave as well if we are ever going to get back to normal.”

“I know,” I grit out.

“I can draw her out,” he says what I knew was coming.

I spin around, furious. “No! I can’t lose you too.”

He is in front of me in a flash, grabbing my hands. “You won’t lose me. I’ll be bait. Xavier will have to take her out of here.”

I look over to my female. She is holding Phoenyx tightly, a grim look on her face. She nods once and turns away from me.

“This isn’t how it’s supposed to be,” I wail, feeling the pity descend on me for a moment before I remember who the fuck I am. I shove it aside. “Famine and War are gone now. We have time. I want whatever you and Drescal are hiding out in the open. Now. Drescal. Follow me.” I stalk off, knowing that they have a million questions about where I was and what I was doing but this has gone on long enough.

I push open the door of Drescal’s room and wait as he follows me in and closes the door. He leans against it and sighs.

“Spill it,” I bark out. “What is that marking and why did I have it and then it disappeared?”

“I can’t answer that part, but I can tell you what it was.” He shoves off from the door and starts to pace as he launches into a tale so freaking unbelievable and devious, I feel sick.

“So, this was all planned by my father, all this time? You and me? It’s not real?”

He growls and stops pacing but he doesn’t come closer.
